Len Wiseman: From Underworld To The Next Big Thing

Len Wiseman is an American filmmaker. He’s known for his work as a director, screenwriter, and producer. You might recognize him from the Underworld series and Live Free or Die Hard.

Wiseman’s career took off with the Underworld franchise, a series of action-horror movies. He directed the first three installments, Underworld (2003), Underworld: Evolution (2006), and Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (2009). These movies explore a world where vampires and werewolves are locked in an ancient conflict, and they feature strong female leads like Kate Beckinsale as Selene. Underworld was a big hit, bringing in over $130 million worldwide on a budget of just $22 million. The success of the series launched Wiseman into the Hollywood spotlight and allowed him to take on bigger projects. He went on to direct Live Free or Die Hard, the fourth installment in the Die Hard franchise. This movie, starring Bruce Willis as John McClane, was another box office success, grossing over $383 million worldwide.

Even though he’s known for his action-packed movies, Wiseman has also dipped his toes into other genres. He directed the science fiction thriller Total Recall (2012), a remake of the 1990 film of the same name.
